At Elmwood Infants School, we use Kapow Primary to support our teaching of History and to help our children develop a curiosity about the past. Through engaging lessons, children explore people, events and significant changes over time, building their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

Our History curriculum encourages children to ask questions, investigate evidence, make connections and develop their own ideas about the past. As they progress through the school, they revisit and build upon their knowledge, developing an understanding of chronology and how people and events from the past have shaped the world we live in today.

Kapow provides a clear and progressive structure for our History teaching, with practical and engaging activities that are particularly suited to our young learners. We encourage children to talk about what they have discovered, share their ideas and use a range of historical sources to help them become confident and enthusiastic young historians.

Through History, we aim to inspire our children to be curious, thoughtful and excited to learn about the past.
